We are excited to announce our plans to establish a summer camp specifically for LGBTQIA+ children and youth, as well as other transgender and non-binary youth. This camp will provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where participants can build confidence, form lasting friendships, and engage in a variety of enriching activities.

Kai is the youngest nominee for Teen Vogue 21 under 21!

When Kai Shappley entered kindergarten, her home state of Texas was attempting to ban trans youth from using the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity. She started puberty just when the state tried to ban trans kids from accessing gender-affirming care. Since she came out as trans, Kai says she has had no choice but to be an activist.

Kai Shappley didn’t feel scared when she sat before the Texas Senate committee in April 2021. Wearing a flowing yellow blouse, floral skirt and cowboy boots, the then-4th grader calmly introduced herself. “I love ballet, math, science and geology. I spend my free time with my cats, chickens, FaceTiming my friends and dreaming of when I finally get to meet Dolly Parton,” she testified. “I do not like spending my free time asking adults to make good choices.”

In this version, Little Red Riding Hood is not just a character; she’s magical, stunning, and ultimately rises to be the queen of her people. This reflects my journey and aspirations as a young transgender advocate.”
